ANDREW BARGER

Andrew has substantial experience in intellectual property due diligence. He has been a key member on the M&A teams of 60+ technology deals, the majority of which were software companies acquired from, or divested to, large private equity firms. Andrew is no stranger to "living in data rooms." He is well-versed in technology transactions, including joint development agreements, joint venture agreements, licensing in and out of IP, trademark coexistence agreements, employee IP agreements, independent contractor agreements, open source software licenses, IP provisions in stock and asset purchase agreements, anti-counterfeiting measures in Asia, and DMCA takedown notices on leading Internet sites.

For 15 years Andrew served as Chief IP Attorney for two publicly-traded, Fortune 1000 companies, including Roper Technologies, Inc., a diversified technology company with annual revenues of $3.2 billion that provides engineered products and solutions for global niche markets in the software space. While in-house, Andrew handled the IP for technology companies operating in a wide array of fields including Application Software; Automotive Systems; Network Software; Medical Products; Electrical Products; Transmission Towers; RFID; and Process Technologies. In doing so, he managed large dockets of IP registrations worldwide, as well as complex patent litigation. Andrew has prosecuted hundreds of trademark applications and written numerous patents. He conducts webinars on various IP topics, including false advertising, UI and UX software protections, trade secrets, trade dress, social media, open source software, trademarks, and patents.

Andrew serves on the boards of several technology companies, is a former intern of the Michigan Supreme Court, and often speaks on various IP topics and has published several articles on cutting-edge topics. Prior to starting law school, he was a computer engineer for Electronic Data Systems (EDS).
